Henry Rollins is a personal hero of mine. One of his more quoted quotes is “keep your blood clean, your body lean and your mind sharp”, which I first read in his great book Get in the Van which is a collection of diary entries and photos from his days touring with punk band Black Flagg between 1981 and 1986. He is an advocate of clean living, exercise, and working hard. I had the good fortune to witness him in one of his spoken word performances back in 2005, included below in some pages from the first draft. I’ve just written to Henry Rollins’ management to request permission to use his likeness and text. Hopefully they say yes.
